Preheat Oven at 150C, lined bottom of 8″ round pan, lightly grease the side
4 g Bamboo Charcoal powder
1 tbs Hot water
5 Egg Yolks
1 Whole Egg
60 g Canola oil
80 g Milk
75 g Cake flour
Few drops of Orange paste
5 egg whites
Dash of Salt
1/4 tsp Cream of tartar/lemon juice
1) Dissolve Charcoal powder in hot water put aside
2) Beat 5 yolks n whole egg till light n fluffy
3) Add oil >mix>add milk>mix > add sifted flour>mix n put aside
4 With another bowl beat egg whites with a dash of salt>add cream of tartar >beat till foamy>gradually add sugar while beating>beat till firm peak
Fold 1/3 meringue into yolk batter>continue with the next 2/3
Divide batter into 2>fold 1 portion with charcoal mixture n fold orange paste into the other portion
Scoops 3 tbs of charcoal batter into centre of prepared pan, alternate with orange batter till complete
Bake with a tray of boiling water at bottom of oven n baking pan of lowest rack at 140C for 45 to 50 mins.
Every oven is different, do observe n adjust your oven temperature or baking time accordingly.
